Rank tracking software for UK businesses
Daily Google positions localised to the UK, tracked in the same dashboard as AI Overview and assistant citations, billed in GBP. This page covers what to look for in a UK rank tracker and where Verosite Visibility fits.

What UK-specific actually means
Most rank trackers can technically report a UK position. The differences that matter in practice are narrower than the marketing suggests:
- Real UK localisation. Results differ between London, Manchester and Edinburgh for the same query. A tracker that stores one national number cannot show you that.
- GBP billing. Tools priced in USD move with the exchange rate, which is a nuisance when you are rebilling a client a fixed monthly fee.
- Device separation. UK mobile and desktop SERPs diverge, particularly for local intent. An averaged figure hides it.
What Verosite Visibility tracks
Per project you set a location, language and device, and the tracker records:
- Google position with full history — daily on Pro and Agency, weekly on Starter.
- AI Overview presence and citation — whether an Overview appeared, whether it cited you, and which competitors it cited instead.
- Assistant answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude, recording whether they mention or cite your domain.
- Search Console clicks and impressions alongside positions, so you can see a ranking that looks fine producing no traffic.
- Competitor positions for the same keywords.
Pricing
All plans are billed in GBP and include a 14-day trial with no card required. Annual billing is available at two months free.
- Starter — £29/month. 1 project, 50 keywords, weekly checks, ChatGPT and Perplexity visibility checks, email PDF reports.
- Pro — £49/month. 5 projects, 500 keywords, daily checks, AI Overview tracking, smart alerts.
- Agency — £149/month. 25 projects, 5,000 keywords, white-label reports, competitor tracking, priority support.
Comparing tools honestly
You will likely also be looking at AccuRanker, Nightwatch, SERPWatcher and the rank tracking modules inside Ahrefs and Semrush. We are not going to publish a feature table claiming what those products do or do not support — their features and prices change, and a comparison table that is quietly six months out of date is worse than none.
Instead, here is what we would check on any shortlist, including ours:
- Run the same ten keywords through a trial of each. Positions should broadly agree. Where they disagree, one tool is localising differently — find out which matches what you see.
- Ask what happens when you exceed a limit. Some tools stop tracking, some bill overages. Both are defensible; being surprised is not.
- Check refresh frequency against your actual plan, not the headline. Daily tracking is often a higher tier than it appears.
- Test the client report before committing, if you are an agency. It is the artefact your client actually judges you on.
- Ask whether AI citation is tracked, and if so whether it covers Google's AI Overview specifically or only assistant chat. They are different problems.
That last point is where we deliberately concentrate: most rank trackers record blue-link positions well, and comparatively few record whether the generated answer above them cites you. If that gap is not a concern for your market, a cheaper single-purpose tracker may serve you better, and we would rather say so than sell you a plan you do not need.
Try it against your own data
The fastest way to compare is with your own keywords. The free AI visibility checker needs no account, and the 14-day trial needs no card — add a domain, paste your keywords, and see the first positions and citation results within minutes.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best rank tracking software for UK businesses?+
The right choice depends on whether you need UK-localised results, how often positions must refresh, and whether you also need AI visibility. For UK work, check that the tool can run searches from a UK location rather than approximating from a US index, bills in GBP so you are not exposed to exchange rates, and tracks AI Overview citations as well as blue-link positions. Verosite Visibility does all three, from £29 a month.
How often should rank tracking run?+
Weekly is enough to see trends on a stable site. Daily matters when you are actively changing pages, running a migration, or watching a competitor, because a weekly check can hide a drop and recovery entirely. Verosite runs weekly checks on Starter and daily checks on Pro and Agency.
Can I track rankings by UK city?+
Yes. Each project sets its own location, language and device, so you can track the same keyword from different UK locations and compare desktop against mobile. Local results vary meaningfully between cities, so a national average often hides what a customer in that city actually sees.
Does rank tracking still matter with AI Overviews?+
Yes, but it is no longer sufficient on its own. Position still drives clicks for the many queries that do not generate an answer. What has changed is that ranking well no longer guarantees visibility — you can hold position two and be absent from the Overview above it, which is why position and citation need tracking together.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes — 14 days, no card required. There is also a free AI visibility checker that runs on any domain without an account.
